What is Young Adult Ministry? The US Conference of Catholic Bishops (USCCB) defines young adults as ages 18-35+, single, married, widowed, or divorced. Young Adults are parents, college students, engineers, lawyers, teachers, landscapers, soldiers, writers, and every other career. The USCCB vision for young adults includes the call to holiness “growing in Jesus Christ,” the call to community “nourishing faith,” and the call to service “living faith in the world.”
OK, so what does this mean for me in Fayetteville? The Fayetteville Young Adult Ministry is a cooperative effort of Catholic parishes in Fayetteville and the surrounding area. Together we sponsor events to include bi-monthly Bible studies, “Spirits and Wisdom” discussion dinners, service projects, fellowship activities, and more. Events are open to all…Catholic, non-Catholic, or once-Catholic, from, “I can’t remember the last time I went to church” to “I just want to learn about God” and everything in between.
Our New Monthly Schedule: FYAM offers an activity every week to give you more opportunities to grow in your faith and fellowship with fellow members! Our monthly schedule is as follows …
The 1st Week of every month we will attend Mass at a local parish and then go out to dinner together afterwards (restaurants and parish will vary by month).
The 2nd and 4th Thursdays of every month we will have Bible study from 6-7:30pm at the Conference Suite in Saint Patrick’s School (this is the first building on the left on Marlborough Rd just off of Village Drive, there is a circular drive in front of the building and you can enter the conference suite directly from the outside, there is no need to go through the main School entrance).
The 3rd Saturday of every month at 5:30pm we will have our ‘Spirits & Wisdom Dinners’ which feature speakers who will tackle some of the spiritual questions most important to young adult Catholics. Restaurants will vary by month and child care is available at Saint Patrick’s with advanced request.
